24 Feb 2008 - New project to help people get to art events

tART, Transport for Art,  is an exciting new project that will enable more people to experience and enjoy a wide range of arts events throughout Bridgnorth and South Shropshire Districts.

Targeting young people aged 11-23, disabled people, older people and those living in remote rural areas the Project will provide transport for people who would otherwise have not been able to get to the interesting and varied arts events taking place in our district.

From February 2008 to March 2009 the Project will provide transport to over 70 registered events.  This could be anything from drama, music, poetry and dance and could include exhibitions and participatory projects.

Some of the events already registered include:

* An exhibition of sculpture at St Leonards Church in Bridgnorth in April

* Dog Days, Lion Nights’ a presentation by Ben Osbourne, Shell International Wildlife Photographer of the year, about his personal experience of filming the BBC Planet Earth Series, at the SPARC Theatre in Bishops Castle on 12th March.

* Live music and comedy with the New String Rope Band on 7th March at Shifnal Village Hall.

* Sleeping Beauty, a professional ballet performance for all the family, at Ludlow Assembly Rooms on 12th April.

If there are any arts events in your area you are interested in attending please contact the organiser and ask them to register with tART. If you are interested in registering an event or travelling to one of the events listed above please call Alan Wilson, tART Project Co-ordinator, on 01694 720012
