The project has been created to encourage everyone to get involved with physical activity. It is helping to break down the images of exercise so that it is open to all. At the same time, the project aims to reduce obesity and related health problems by stimulating and inspiring the active participation of people who lead relatively sedentary lives.

What activity opportunities are there?

Exercise is open to all! We aim to encourage everyone to take part in any type of exercise, be it walking or cycling, or skateboarding or bowling!

There are many facilities already available in Shrewsbury and Atcham, such as Through the Doorway and other community based groups.

New developments.

The Shrewsbury Sports Village in Sundorne has been designed to cater for all. The village will provide sixteen grass pitches, 8 court sports hall, squash courts, climbing wall, BMX track, skateboard park, 1km illuminated cycle track as well as weekly activities taking place. In addition, there will be a fully equipped coaching and sports development centre. The opportunities for exercise and healthy living are endless and the chance is here to make the changes and a difference to your life for life.

Could you help?

We have volunteering opportunities within the sports village. From stewarding, promotional activity, leading activities and many more.

So if you could help make the difference, contact Ceri Eades, the Project Officer either at Volutary Action Shrewsbury address or as she's based mainly at the Sports Village on 01743 281 567 :
