February is Youhg People and Children Month

From youth work and education, to sport and conservation, there's a huge variety in the kind of volunteering opportunities available.

So how do you decide which kind of volunteering you would like to do?

Each month during the Year of the Volunteer a different volunteering theme will be highlighted to provide all the information you could need to decide if you're interested in volunteering in that area. February is Youth and Children Month.

February is Youth and Children Month
Getting into volunteering while you're young could be one of the best things you ever do.

During Youth and Children Month in February, a wide range of events will be taking place, demonstrating the diversity of volunteering opportunities young people and children can get involved in. Often, young people and children can take the lead by designing and running their own innovative volunteer projects, rather than being told what projects to give their time to.

Volunteering is the perfect activity for children and young people. Not only does it help them learn new skills and realise their potential, it is also a great way of making friends and having fun, in a safe and stimulating environment.

Whether it's blasting streets clear of litter, peer mentoring other young people, or working with older people to build bridges between generations, young people and children are some of the most passionate volunteers out there.

Youth and Children Month, aims to:

highlight the energy and enthusiasm young people and children have for playing an active part in society
raise awareness of the thousands of young people and children who volunteer across the country - giving them the recognition they deserve.
Youth and Children Month in February will show the nation that young people and children are passionate about quality, well-supported volunteering opportunities, where they are given the freedom to be creative in helping others.
